When I was contacted by Crazy Camera to give their app a try, I wondered what could be new in this app since I already have over 400 editing apps! Well, it turns out there were a few new filters and effects I had never seen before. There's also a Randomizer button to hit to produce a new combination of filters and distortions.

I used a painterly photo from my library and randomized it a few times to come up with some quick versions (below)

Tadaa SLR Currently FREE!

Tadaa SLR has a really smart masking tool that allows you to create the look of depth of field similar to what you could get using a DSLR camera. This tool allows you to zoom in very close to mask even the tiniest details. And it's currently FREE! My daughter went to Montessori in the basement of a large building constructed in the 30's. On this particular day I was very early picking her up from her after school yoga class. I found myself in a part of the L-shaped hallway where I hadn't been before. A little waiting area contained some old furniture. I took in my surroundings while waiting for her to come down the stairs. the environment brought me back to another time, a time when I may have been waiting for my parents in such a place. 1969. I was five then. My daughter is five now. "Once upon a time I was as you are now." 

The Photographer

I am a freelance artist, teacher, mother/father to my child and NEM founding artist. Creating and making stuff is my passion - I have been a working artist for over 25 years; an abstract painter for most of my art career.

Had to give up the studio for financial and single parenting reasons over two years ago. Stopped dead for several months then began drawing again. While taking photos for source material, I rediscovered photography (I was a photo major in art school). Soon after, I got my iPhone...meanwhile, working to create an online presence and getting my work back out into the world.

All this led me to mobile photography/art which is now my primary medium. An iPad allows me to mix drawing, painting and photography together with ease and it is taking my work into new directions. Also the perfect studio for a single parent!

I live in the midwest United States with my daughter and dog.

Look Who's One! Happy Birthday AMPt Community!

2013 ended on a high note for me with the Tap-In feature at Susan Tuttle Photography. When I was in my 20's (in the 1970's!) a good friend of mine used to say the first day of the year sets the tone for the whole year. Well, if that's any indication this will be a great year. 2014 started with a huge honor by the AMPt Community who featured an image I posted on January 1, 2013 to highlight their one year anniversary today.

I'd like to congratulate all at AMPt Community for creating a site where mobile photographers can post their work, learn from each other and exchange ideas. I look forward to seeing what 2014 will bring to this art form we all love - we've come so far already but who knows where it will all go?
