Susan Tuttle has long been an artist, photographer and author I admire so you can imagine my delight when she asked if I would like to be featured as part of her Tap-In series at Susan Tuttle Photography! Today the post went live and I am thoroughly delighted to see it online. Susan's questions made me examine why I create and what part creativity plays in my life. Please click on the image below to read the article. A special thank you to Susan - what a fabulous way to end my year!

Monday's Painterly Mobile Artist feature normally includes just one image that the artist has selected. This week I was sent two images by artist Aylin Argun for me to choose from. It was so hard to choose only one, so I decided to include both of them. You may know Aylin by her Instagram name @xxfromneptune.
Please visit the Painterly Mobile Art Flickr group to see more from Aylin and all of the artists! Do you like to edit in a painterly style? Please join the group, we'd love to have you!

The Artist
Aylin Argun - I live in İstanbul, Turkey I attended basic photography education and dark room seminars in 2005 at AFSAD (Ankara association of photographic artists). AFSAD is one of Turkey’s most prominent photographic training centers. I’ve been working on iPhone photography, editing and photographing via my iPhone for over two years. Along with black and white photographic works, I have been creating painterly photography with an emphasis on autobiography.
Aylin's Commentary
This Witch is About to Fly: A witch who can fly thanks to her red shoes. I took this photo with camera and self-timer. I turned it into a pictorial photograph on ArtRage. With paint tube, I added some red paint; I spread the paint as I wished with the help of the palette knife which I use frequently; sometimes using the Smearing Edge and sometimes Basic Palette Knife. After that, I added texture on the photo via ScratchCam.
Kirke: Kirke is a magician goddess in Greek Mythology (She was renowned for her vast knowledge of drugs and herbs. Through the use of magical potions and a wand, she transformed her enemies, or those who offender her, into animals. She was a minor goddess of magic or sometimes a nymph, witch, enchantress or sorceress.) I used only ArtRage and Snapseed for this photo; I created the brush effect via Palette Knife on ArtRage and I exercised contrast and brightness control on Snapseed.

Merry Christmas and Thank You
Just a quick note to all of my readers who will be celebrating Christmas tomorrow - I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. For me the best part of this time of year is slowing down after the mad rush that takes up most of December. After all the shopping, baking, wrapping and decorating, one of my favorite things is to go to the movies on Christmas Day. Any suggestions for a film we should see?
Above photo was edited with Painteresque, Snapseed, Sketch Club and Tangled FX.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the readers who visit Art of Mob and all of the artists who have allowed me to feature their work and words here. I wish each and everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

We are nearly at the end of 2013 and I've appreciated all of the work that the members of the Painterly Mobile Art Flickr Group have created. Below are a few selections from the many pieces added in the last two weeks. Click on an image to view it on Flickr. If you're a mobile artist who edits in a painterly way, please join us - we'd love to have you in the group!

I recently posted this image on Instagram.
Part of the editing process involved readying the photo before I added the shattered effect using iColorama. I liked the profile of a woman that I had captured but wanted to even out her skin, block out the background and enhance the lips and eyes. Below is a quick video of the editing process using Inspire Pro which I recently downloaded for FREE (regular price $4.99)! Inspire Pro includes a video playback feature showing your brushstrokes, so I'm able to share it with you in under 15 seconds!
After I painted over the photo with Inspire Pro, I used Luminance to filter the image to black and white. Then I used a Shatter brush in iColorama to distort the black and white image and combined that with the "unshattered" image using Sketch Club. Final adjustments and cropping were done in Snapseed.

Instashare - Better Than Dropbox?
Yesterday I listed Dropbox as one of my favorite apps. I use it nearly every day to transfer images from my iPhone to my iPad and from my iPad to my Mac Mini...that is until I discovered something that may work even better for me. It's called Instashare and it makes transferring images between my devices and my Mac as easy as dragging and dropping!
If you'd like to see it in action, check out the video below.
Instashare is available for Mac for $2.99. It's free for iOS devices (but you can upgrade to the no-ad version for $0.99) You will need to purchase the Mac app to allow transfers to your Mac. It's also available for Android and will be coming soon to Windows.
I will still be using Dropbox to share folders of images with family and friends but Instashare will now be my go-to app for sharing between devices.

Okay, first the disclaimer! This in no way includes ALL of my favorites. This was just a fun exercise and you may want to play along. When you read the subtitles below, what comes to mind first? That's how I made my lists. If these lists were complete there would be MANY more in each category.
